Imagine someone came into your living room from two hundred years in the past. The guy sees a box in the corner of your room and asks you what it is. You say it’s a television set. So he asks you what does it do? You tell him sometimes a guy reads the news and other times actors entertain in it. He seems confused and asks how do they get in the box?
You go on to explain how they perform in a studio and their image is sent to the television. The guy says that’s impossible. You go onto explain how their image is taken through a camera and turned into a signal that is sent through the air to a dish on my roof, it then travels down a cable into the back of the television set.
He then says you expect me to believe some invisible force travels through the air to your house and you can see it on this box? You don’t know how to explain it any better, so you tell him to push the button on the TV and see for yourself. He asks, "Are you trying to trick me into making a fool of myself?". You tell him to step out in faith and push the button, you too will see the truth!
That is what God calls us to do, step out in faith. It might seem like a fairy tale, but God requires us to have faith like a child (Luke 18:17).
